This VII Diploma Project Exhibition (PFC) of Spanish Schools of Architecture, part of the XIV edition of the Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (BEAU), a biannual effort, gathers the 20 best End-of-Course Projects of graduating students selected by a specialized jury, from all of the Schools of Architecture in Spain.

The award-winning entries constitute an overview of design strategies representative of final projects concluded in Spanish Schools of Architecture during the 2016-2017 academic year. The designs stand out for the way they intervene in the city, in their cultural heritage, and in the manifestation of several programs in the landscape. The projects are recognized not only for their spatial, social, cultural, technical, and functional values, but it is also their urban commitment, steeped in the principles of social cohesion and environmental efficiency, that distinguishes them.

This presentation compliments an exhibition of award-winning Spanish Architecture from the BEAU, to be held at the Cervantes Institute of New York from October 30 to December 1, 2019. Under the motto “Más habitar, más humanizar” (“more living, more human”), this exhibition will highlight the best projects by Spanish Architects, both in Spain or in foreign countries.

In addition to the two exhibitions, The Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture will host lectures by Antón García-Abril and Stella Betts on Tuesday, October 29 at 6:30pm, to be followed by a round table discussion with Assistant Professor Lorena Del Rio and Iñaqui Carnicero. The talk will be moderated by Dean Nader Tehrani and followed by a reception.

On Wednesday, October 30 at 6:30pm, the Cervantes Institute will host lectures by William O’Brien Jr. and Anna Puigjaner, followed by a round table discussion and reception.

These exhibitions and events are free and open to the public.

The Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture is located at 7 East 7^th Street, between 3^rd and 4^th Avenues. The Cervantes Institute is located at 211 East 49^th Street.
